African Americans in Paris Trip

Launched several years ago by Prof. Agnieszka Soltysik-Monnet, this study trip which invites students from the University of Lausanne and the University of Lancaster, follows African American authors and artists in their Parisian life. Joséphine Baker, Richard Wright, James Baldwin, Chester Himes, Langston Hughes, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Augusta Savage, and Claude McKay are some of artists whose work we analyze and life we trace by reading and discussing excerpts of their work and doing a walking tour through the quartier du Marais with Julia Browne’s Walking the Spirit Tour. I assisted Prof. Agnieszka Soltysik-Monnet, who still runs these tours, organize this yearly trip from 2016-2018.
