Biography<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Information Security and Privacy (ISP) Lab at UNIL, where my work examines human-centered security and privacy research in contexts of violence, vulnerability, and inequality. My research investigates how digital systems shape whether individuals can understand, articulate, and act on harm, particularly in high-risk contexts where failures can lead to real-world injury or death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My work sits at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI), usable security and privacy, communication studies, and public health. I develop sociotechnical frameworks and interventions to examine how digital platforms, AI systems, and institutional infrastructures both enable and inhibit safety-critical help-seeking. Central to my research are the concepts of muting, epistemic injustice, and interdependent privacy, which I use to explain how systems reproduce structural inequalities and constrain users\u2019 ability to seek help or protect themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I received my Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I investigated how technologies mediate violence and harm across social media, news media, and AI systems. My dissertation introduced the concept of muting<\/em>\u2014the sociotechnical mechanisms through which platforms suppress survivor discourse\u2014and demonstrated how these mechanisms shape access to information, support, and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to and alongside my academic work, I bring over a decade of experience in violence prevention, policy, and public health, including collaborations with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the implementation of the Cardiff Model for Violence Prevention in healthcare settings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
