Christiania Whitehead

Christiania Whitehead is a Privat-docent in the Department of English, University of Lausanne, and Senior Research Fellow on the Swiss National Science Foundation-funded research project, ‘Reconfiguring the Apophatic Tradition in Late Medieval England’ (April 2022- March 26). Prior to this, from 1996-2019, she taught Middle English Literature at the University of Warwick. She was promoted to Professor there in 2017, and retains an honorary professorship. Before beginning at Warwick, she gained her doctorate in Middle English Literature at the University of Oxford in 1995.

Christiania specialises in Middle English religious literature, in particular, allegory, hagiography, lyric, devotional writing and mysticism.
