Kévin Huguenin (Professor – group leader)

Kévin is a full professor at UNIL-HEC Lausanne, where he leads the Information Security and Privacy Lab (ISPLab), within the Department of Information Systems (DESI). Before he joined UNIL in 2016, he held a researcher position (Chargé de Recherche) at LAAS-CNRS (France). Prior to that, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at EPFL and at McGill University (Canada). He earned his PhD degree in computer science from the Université of Rennes and Inria, France, in 2010.

Kavous Salehzadeh (Research scientist)

Kavous is a research scientist in the ISP and PET Labs where he works on addressing online privacy violations committed by individuals, in the framework of the NudgeMPC SNSF project. Before he joined UNIL, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Human-Computer Interaction Group at EPFL. He earned his PhD degree in human-computer interaction (HCI) from Kochi University of Technology, Japan, in 2018.

Yamane El Zein (PhD student – external)

Yamane is a PhD student (enrolled at UNIL) working under the joint supervision of Prof. Kévin Huguenin (UNIL) and Dr. Ricard Delgado (Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology; CSEM). She started her PhD in September of 2019. She earned her MSc in Computer Science from EPFL; her thesis work focuses on a framework for quantifying the privacy risks associated with genomic data sharing at the Precision Medicine Unit of Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV). Her research focuses on mobile health data privacy, specifically on solutions for private data exchange between low-energy devices and computing and storage infrastructures in the context of bio-signals monitoring.

Lev Velykoivanenko (PhD student)

Lev is a PhD student (enrolled at UNIL) working under the supervision of Prof. Kévin Huguenin (UNIL), in the framework of the PrivateLife SNSF project. He started his PhD in 2020. He earned his MSc degree in information systems from UNIL in 2020. His current research focuses on the utility aspects of the use of life-style tracking devices and applications.

Noé Zufferey (PhD, UNIL, 2019-2023)

Noé joined ETH as a post-doctoral researcher after he earned his PhD from UNIL for the work on the privacy aspects of fitness trackers he conducted under the joint supervision of Prof. Kévin Huguenin and Prof. Mathias Humbert (UNIL) in the ISPLab, in the framework of the PrivateLife SNSF project.  In 2018, he earned his MSc in computer science from the BeNeFri network (Universities of Bern, Neuchâtel and Fribourg).

Rémi Coudert (Research engineer, 2019-2020)

Rémi worked as a research engineer in the ISPLab. He earned his MSc in computer science from EPFL in 2020. During his Master’s studies, he worked as an intern at Inria, in the Privatics team in Grenoble (France), and at Logitech in Lausanne. Before that, he completed a BSc in computer science at EPFL in 2017 with a one-year exchange at ENS Lyon (France).

Gaël Bernard (Research scientist, 2020)

Gaël joined the University of Toronto as a post-doctoral researcher in 2021 after he worked as a research scientist in the ISPLab, focusing on web security (a project partly funded by the Hasler Foundation). He earned his PhD degree in information systems from UNIL in 2020. During his PhD, he worked under the supervision of Prof. Periklis Andritsos (UNIL / University of Toronto) on the use of process mining and customer journey mapping techniques for improving customer journey experience.

Didier Dupertuis (Research engineer, 2018-2020)

Didier joined the Digital Humanities Laboratory Lab at EPFL in 2020 after he worked as a research engineer in the ISPLab, focusing on privacy in personalized medicine (a project funded by the Fondation Leenaards in the framework of the SantéPerSo platform). His  work in the ISPLab consisted in developing mathematical models and implementing them in interactive tools to introduce a wider public to the topic of genomic privacy. Prior to that he worked on data-management solutions at the Swiss Federal Statistical Office. In 2016, he earned his MSc in economics from UNIL. Before that, he completed a BSc in computer science at EPFL with a one-year Erasmus exchange at KTH Royal Institute of Technology , Sweden.

Dimitri Percia David (PhD, UNIL, 2016-2020)

Dimitri joined the EPFL Cyber-Defense Campus of armasuisse as a post-doctoral researcher in 2020 and then HES-SO as an assistant professor in 2022, after he earned his PhD from UNIL for the work he conducted under the supervision of Prof. Kévin Huguenin (UNIL) in the ISPLab. He started his PhD in early 2016. In parallel of his PhD, he worked as a scientific collaborator for the Military Academy at ETH Zurich (Chair of Defense Economics) in collaboration with PD Dr. Marcus Matthias Keupp (ETH Zurich, HSG). His PhD research focused on applying microeconomics to the field of information systems security, especially for the protection of critical infrastructures.

Bertil Chapuis (Research scientist, 2019-2020)

Bertil joined Camptocamp as a solution architect and then HEIG-VD as an associate professor in 2020 after he worked as a research scientist in the ISPLab, focusing on web security (a project partly funded by the Hasler Foundation). He earned his PhD degree in information systems from UNIL in 2018, under the supervision of Prof. Benoît Garbinato.

Benjamin Trubert (Research and teaching assistant, 2018-2019)

Benjamin worked as a research and teaching assistant in the ISPLab, focusing on social aspects of privacy. In 2017, he earned his MSc in Cloud Computing and Services, from Université of Rennes (France) and Aalto University (Finland). During his Master’s studies, he received an excellence scholarship from EIT Digital. He earned his BSc. in Computer Science in 2015, from the University of Rennes.

Alexandre Meylan (MSc, UNIL, 2018-2019)

Alexandre joined the Kudelski Group as a security analyst in 2019 after he earned his MSc in information systems at UNIL-HEC. His MSc thesis research focused on web download security; it was carried out in the ISP and PET Labs under the joint supervision of Prof. Kévin Huguenin (UNIL) and Prof. Mauro Cherubini. In 2017, he earned his BSc in Management from UNIL.

Alain Mermoud (PhD, UNIL, 2015-2019)

Alain joined the EPFL Cyber-Defense Campus of armasuisse as a scientific project manager in 2019, after he earned his PhD from UNIL for the work he conducted under the co-supervision of PD Dr. Marcus Matthias Keupp (ETH Zurich) and Prof. Kévin Huguenin (UNIL). His PhD research focused on security information sharing and cooperation in the context of critical infrastructure protection. He started his PhD in 2015 while working as a scientific collaborator at the Military Academy at ETH Zurich. Prior to that, he worked 5+ years in the banking industry. He earned his MSc in Business Administration and his BSc in Information Science from the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland as Hirschmann-scholarshipholder.

Alexandra Mihaela Olteanu (PhD, EPFL, 2013-2019)

Alexandra joined CSEM as a R&D security and privacy engineer in 2019, after she earned her PhD from EPFL for the work she conducted under the co-supervision of Prof. Jean Pierre Hubaux (EPFL) and Prof. Kévin Huguenin (UNIL). Her PhD research focused on the social aspects of privacy with a special emphasis on interdependent privacy. In 2013, she earned her MSc in Computer Science, with a Specialization in Internet Computing, from EPFL. During her master studies, she held an excellence academic scholarship from EPFL and received a Google Anita Borg Memorial scholarship. In 2008, she obtained her BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from Babes-Bolyai University, Romania.

Anh Pham (PhD, EPFL, 2013-2019)

Anh joined ABB Research as a research scientist in 2019 and then Google as a privacy engineer in 2020, after she earned her PhD from EPFL for the work she conducted under the co-supervision of Prof. Jean Pierre Hubaux (EPFL) and Prof. Kévin Huguenin (UNIL). Her PhD research focused on security and privacy issues in mobile operating systems and location-trace-based services such as activity-based social networks (a la RunKeeper) and ride-hailing services (a la Uber). In 2013, she earned her MSc in Mobile Computing and Network Security from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and Aalto University, Finland. She was granted the Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the entirety of my master’s studies. In 2010, she earned her BSc. in Information Technology from Vietnam National University.
