Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION: I WOULD LIKE TO WRITE MY PH.D. UNDER YOUR SUPERVISION

Answer: Here at HEC, unlike many other universities, a prospective Ph.D. student does not start by choosing his professor. First he or she needs to register at our Doctoral School. Our Doctoral School is run jointly with EPFL and there is a first year of lectures that need to be followed. After successfully completing this first year, the student may wish to choose his/her advisor. The student then proceeds by writing a summer paper which needs to get approval by a committee of 3 professors. For registration go here.

QUESTION: I WOULD LIKE TO STUDY AT THE MSCF

Answer: This is a great idea. However you should realize that the MScF is a very demanding program with a failure rate of about 60%. In general HEC students have less difficulty to succeed the program but we have had excellent students from abroad. On Facebook there are several alumni groups. On the WEB one may also find a forum that discusses our program. I can not post a link since I do not want to interfer with that forum. If you want to register go here for the forms

I will NOT give any information on your application. Also, some prospective students send me their vita, grades etc… asking me if I would take them. I do not answer such questions. Even if I would give you my advice, there is a scientific committee of more than 3 people, so my opinion may be rejected.
